![]() The third thing well point out is that you might have noticed that your Brush window has been replaced with a World window. You can use these arrows to adjust the position of a model inside of your scene. These represent the 3 axis inside your scene. The second thing that you’ll see is three arrows: a blue one, a green one and a red one. This scene has the ability to store multiple models inside of it, kind of like a room has the ability to store multiple pieces of furniture inside of it. When you create a new file in MagicaVoxel, it is creating a scene for you. The first thing is that there is now a white outlined box surrounding your monument model. When you click the button you’ll notice the main editor window change. To open the World Editor click the button towards the top-right of your screen that has two arrows facing opposite directions. To illustrate how the world Editor works however, we will create a second monument with a different color inside the same scene. Like we mentioned before, the stable version of MagicaVoxel only supports 126x126x126, so realistically there is not much room left to add anything to this model. The reason we are using this one is because it is 126x126x118 in size. For this example we will use the “monu1” sample file that ships with MagicaVoxel. There is a beta version that was released a few days ago that allows models of 256x256x256 to be created but according to their website there is the possibility of bugs and thus might not be reliable.īut even with the size increase most scenes are much bigger than 256x256x256. Next we will dive into how to use the scale tool to make a model smaller instead of larger so that we reduce the amount of voxels that are in a model.What is the Maximum Model Size in MagicaVoxelĪs of this writing, MagicaVoxel only supports creating models with a max size of 126x126x126. Notice how there are more voxels to work with. To see the how the grid has changed tap on the model and tap the Edit button in the context menu. The benefit of scaling a model is that it gives you more voxels to work with so you can add even more detail. In the example below, we placed the original model to the left and the scaled version to the right. When you tap on the Scale button, you will open a new menu called Scale. When you select it, a context menu will appear above it. To access this context menu simply tap on the voxel model you would like to scale. The main way of scaling a model is to use the Scale tool located inside the model context menu. How to Scale a Voxel Model using The 2x Option The reason we are using this voxel model is because it’s a small model which is perfect for demonstrating the Scale tool in Mega Voxels. We will now cover the different ways to scale the dog model including how to make it bigger as well as how to make it smaller. However, feel free to use any voxel model you like as the steps will be identical to what we cover here. For this example we will use the dog voxel model that you create in the tutorial for Mega Voxels.
